You can change "god" to "king," "queen," "goddess," etc. very easily. There are alternate endings to this one because different things happened in different classes. This gives you a good idea of how the same basic structures can end up with a totally different story.
Target Structures: likes, gives, brings, comes
Additional vocab: sacrifice (noun), gift, sends to prison, sword, kills
Actor roles: authority figure, worshiper/subject
"Marcus deus est.
Non deus bonus, sed malus est. Marcus
multa dona vult. Quintus vir, non
deus est. Quintus ad deum venit. Quintus nihil fert. Quintus tigrem petit. “Dei, da mihi tigrem.”
inquit Quintus. Deus ei tigrem non dat, quod Quintus donum non fert. Deus inquit, “Quintus, da mihi sacrificium!”
Quintus ad deum
venit. Quintus bovem fert. Quintus bovem necat et deo bovem dat. Sacrificium ei non placet. Deus inquit, “Quintus, da mihi sacrificium!”
Quintus ad deum
venit. Quintus ursum fert. Quintus ursum necat et deo ursum dat. Sacrificium ei non placet. Deus inquit, “Quintus, da mihi sacrificium!”
Quintus ad deum
venit. Quintus Hondam Civicum fert. Quintus Hondam necat et deo Hondam
dat. Deus laetus est. Donum ei placet. Quintus tigrem petit. “Dei, da mihi tigrem.” inquit
Quintus, sed casu coronam dei
deicit. Deus nunc iratus est. Deus Quintum
necat. Deus ei tigrem non dat, sed
mortem."
"Marcus is a god. He's not a good god, but a bad one. Marcus wants many gifts. Quintus is a man, not a god. Quintus comes to the god. Quintus brings nothing. Quintus asks for a tiger. "God, give me a tiger." says Quintus. The god doesn't give him a tiger, because Quintus didn't bring a gift. The god says, "Quintus, give me a sacrifice!"
Quintus comes to the god. Quintus brings a cow. Quintus kills the cow and gives the cow to the god. He doesn't like the sacrifice. The god says, "Quintus, give me a sacrifice!"
Quintus comes to the god. Quintus brings a bear. Quintus kills the bear and gives the bear to the god. He doesn't like the sacrifice. The god says, "Quintus, give me a sacrifice!"
Quintus comes to the god. Quintus brings a Honda Civic. Quintus kills the Honda and gives the Honda to the god. The god is happy. He likes the gift. Quintus asks for a tiger. "God, give me a tiger." says Quintus, but by chance he throws down the god's crown. Now the god is angry. The god kills Quintus. The god doesn't give him a tiger, but death."
In that version, one of the actors accidentally knocked off the other's crown, so I worked it into the story. This particular story is unusually violent, but when I did it this way, I could talk to the kids about Roman religion, animal sacrifice and the "do ut des" ("I give so that you may give") theology.

Another version: Kissing got brought in here because they'd learned that word the previous week. They were also really excited about some prop swords I had. The hoorays & ewws & oh nos come from my rejoinders poster.
Marcus est rex. Marcus dives et fortis est, sed malus. Marcus multa dona vult. Iulia est femina. Iulia ad regem venit et tigrem
fert. Iulia regi tigrem dat. Tigris regi
non placet. Rex iratus est. Rex Iuliam
gladio necat. Eheu!
Cornelia ad regem venit et canem fert. Cornelia ei canem dat. Rex laetus est, quod canis ei placet. Rex Corneliam
osculat. Cornelia inquit, “Fufae!”
Osculum regis ei non placet. Rex iratus est. Rex Corneliam non necat, sed in carcerem mittit. Cornelia ad carcerem it. Eheu!
Quintus ad regem venit et gladium fert. Quintus gladium regi non dat, sed regem
necat. Euge! Rex malus mortuus est.
Marcus is a king. Marcus is rich and strong, but bad. Marcus wants many gifts. Julia is a woman. Julia comes to the king and brings a tiger. Julia gives the king a tiger. The king doesn't like the tiger. The king is angry. The king kills Julia with a sword. Oh no!
Cornelia comes to the king and brings a dog. Cornelia gives the dog to the king. The king is happy because he likes the dog. The king kisses Cornelia. Cornelia says, "Eww!" She doesn't like the king's kiss. The king is angry. The king doesn't kill Cornelia, but sends her to prison. Cornelia goes to prison. Oh no!
Quintus comes to the king and brings a sword. Quintus doesn't give the sword to the king, but kills the king. Hooray! The bad king is dead.
